East Meadow, NY, August 27, 2008 — Lufthansa today announced it is further extending its network to and from Florida with the addition of three-cabin Airbus A340-300 service to Düsseldorf beginning October 26, 2008. The new seasonal route will offer travellers convenient 35-minute connections to more than 50 popular European destinations through Düsseldorf’s boutique-style airport, which will also feature Lufthansa’s newly opened 8,000+ square foot Senator Lounge and nearly 12,000 square foot Business Lounge.
“Düsseldorf offers an escape from the pressures of many of the larger European airports. It’s a smaller, faster, less complex boutique style of traveling,” said Jens Bischof, Lufthansa’s Vice President, The Americas. “The new route perfectly complements our existing three-cabin service from Miami to Frankfurt, and newly launched Orlando-Frankfurt route.”
Lufthansa Chairman and CEO Wolfgang Mayrhuber will lead a delegation of media, corporations and partners from Düsseldorf to Miami, arriving with inaugural flight LH 466 at 5:30 pm local time on October 26th. Flight LH 467 to Düsseldorf will depart Miami at 7:20 pm and arrive in Düsseldorf at 9:15 am local time the next day. The A340-300 aircraft will feature eight First Class seats, 48 lie-flat Business Class seats and 165 Economy Class seats on top of the current 330 seats offered daily between Miami and Frankfurt, for a new total of 551 daily seats.
To celebrate the new route between “The Magic City” and the popular capital of North Rhine Westphalia, Lufthansa is offering a special introductory roundtrip fare of $550 (including fuel surcharges, excluding taxes and fees). The fare is available for departures between October 26 and December 11, with all travel completed between November 2 and January 10. Tickets can be booked at www.lufthansa.com <https://www.lufthansa.com/> before September 4th.
In order to offer the most convenient departure, arrival, and transit times, Lufthansa’s network planners and sales specialists have optimized the trans-Atlantic flight schedules in close cooperation with customers and Düsseldorf airport. Connections include flights to Barcelona, Milan, Moscow, Paris and Rome.
