Le Meurice, a Two-Michelin-star Restaurant in Paris, is Now Doing Takeout

The fabled restaurant headed by the legendary chef Alain Ducasse is now delivering around Paris.

By Alex Martin

Restaurant Le Meurice Alain Ducasse, one of the most fabled restaurants in Paris, has launched a new takeout menu to ensure the city’s epicureans can continue to feast of fine dining throughout lockdown.

France has been one of the countries hit hardest by the Covid-19 pandemic and has had one of the strictest social lockdowns in Europe as a result. In an effort to ensure the virus comes under complete control, Paris has effectively shut its doors to tourists this summer and Hotel Le Meurice will not reopen its doors before September.

However, with the country winning the battle against the infection rate, restrictions have loosened in recent weeks. While restaurants are still no closer to reopening, they are now allowed to offer takeout services. In order to survive the next few months, everything from tiny brasseries to Michelin-star restaurants will have to adapt.

For a two-Michelin-star restaurant like Le Meurice, the challenge is even greater. Executive chef Amaury Bouhours has to create dishes that not only live up to his usual world-class standards but continue to do so when they arrived on someone’s doorstep.

Executive chef Amaury Bouhours will launch a new takeout menu every week.

The refined menu will cost €70 ($75) per person with a small delivery fee for inner Paris

The new takeout menu was launched last week. It is comprised of three courses and is priced at €70 ($78) per person with a €9 ($10) delivery fee within central Paris. The refined selection will change regularly so diners will be able to discover something new and exciting every week.

The current menu offers seasonal delights such as tender leg of lamb served with peas and broad beans, and an elegant tortellini pasta with beets and ricotta. The desserts have been created by the restaurant’s world-renowned pastry chef Cedric Grolet, and all the ingredients will be supplied by local producers.

For those who want to challenge themselves in the kitchen, Le Meurice is also offering delightful produce baskets. These packages will include all of the ingredients required to make your chosen dish along with a step-by-step guide on how to cook and plate the ingredients. The basket is priced at €130 ($150). Customers can also be able to choose from an extensive wine list to complete their perfect “night out” at home.
