Hennessy Unveils Limited Editions for Chinese New Year

Hennessy has collaborated with award-winning Chinese artist Yang Yongliang to celebrate the Year of the Dragon.

Yet again Maison Hennessy is celebrating the Chinese New Year with the launch of a gorgeous collection of limited edition bottles. This year, the Year of the Dragon, Hennessy has partnered with Chinese artist Yang Yongliang, drawing inspiration from his digital art piece Dragon’s Odyssey.

To honor the dragon, the most symbolic animal of the Chinese zodiac and one of China’s most important cultural symbols, Yongliang entwined traditional drawings with digital art, the latter serving to visually deliver movement upon and throughout the art.

With metallic dragons dancing in and out of waves, the artwork’s three-dimensional element only enhances the majesty of the piece. Even the texture of the skin and teeth of the dragon are illuminated.

“It was important to me to work with a brand that has respect of its own history and traditions, as Hennessy does. It links the present to the past in everything it does, and I resonated with that,” Yongliang said.

“My inspiration for this collection comes from my special fondness for dragons –they’re so symbolic and legendary, and I grew up hearing stories about them,” he continued.  “Using contemporary digital technology meant I could add a three-dimensional element and bring the dragons to life, and I hope this inspires people to learn more about the historical and cultural contexts of dragons.”

The art-adorned bottles are available in the cognac varieties of VSOP, X.O and Paradis, and the golden liquors are cased within the rare decanters.

VSOP is a vibrant red, the colors for joy and luck; X.O, on the other hand, is gold for prosperity while Paradis is brilliant white and gold, and comes in a beautiful oak gift box.
