The Restaurant
Chao Shang Chao, located in Beijing's Central Business District, offers an exquisite experience in Chaoshan cuisine. The restaurant holds three Michelin stars, making it the first and only restaurant in Beijing to achieve this for its Teochew specialties. Upon arrival, diners are greeted by a hallway lined with steeply priced dried fish maws, setting the tone for the upscale experience. Chef Cheung, drawing from years of experience in Hong Kong and Shanghai, presents a menu that showcases the rich culinary heritage of the Guangdong province. Dishes such as braised eel wrapped in lotus leaf with dried tangerine peel and plum sauce exemplify the precision and finesse found here. The restaurant boasts an extensive wine list and a tea menu, complementing the refined cuisine.
