The Restaurant
Dakar NOLA, opened in November 2022, offers a modern Senegalese dining experience in New Orleans. Chef Serigne Mbaye, who honed his skills in Michelin-starred kitchens such as L'Atelier de Joël Robuchon and Atelier Crenn, presents a seasonal tasting menu that explores the connection between Senegambia and New Orleans through food. The restaurant itself is located in an Uptown cottage, creating a warm and elegant ambiance accented with African art. Dakar NOLA was honored with the James Beard Foundation Award for Best New Restaurant in 2024. The seven-course tasting menu features elevated Senegalese dishes using local ingredients and Gulf seafood. The restaurant's communal dining experience and attention to detail set it apart, offering a unique and immersive culinary journey.
