The Restaurant
Located in a building dating back to 1640 in Oslo's historical quarter, Statholdergaarden offers a timeless gourmet experience. Chef Bent Stiansen, Norway's first Bocuse d'Or winner, opened the restaurant in 1994, and it has maintained one Michelin star since 1998. The restaurant prides itself on using the best Norwegian produce, with a menu that changes with the seasons. The building itself, once the residence of Governor Ulrik Fredrik Gyldenløve, features elegant rooms adorned with antiques and ornate stucco ceilings. Expertly rendered classical cooking uses seasonal Norwegian ingredients. Statholdergaarden also has an informal restaurant in the cellar, Statholderens Food & Wine cellar, which offers a ten-course tasting menu.
