Delacorte Presidential Suite, JW Marriott Essex House New York
Big Apple hotels do not get much more iconic than JW Marriott Essex House New York. Certified as a historic hotel, construction of this Art Deco jewel began in 1931, just a day after the infamous Wall Street Crash. Its crimson "Essex House" rooftop sign was installed in 1932 and quickly established itself as an integral fixture of the New York skyline.
The storied hotel, which sits on the intersection of the Upper West Side and Midtown on the desirable Central Park South, has hosted the great and the good for nearly a century and it still retains much of its original charm.
In July 2023, the hotel unveiled its Central Park Suite Collection; three exquisite suites that celebrate the tower’s famed front lawn: Central Park. The two-bedroom Delacorte Presidential Suite is the most expansive of all at 2,500 sq ft, sleeping up to six guests.
Paying homage to New York philanthropist George T. Delacorte, the trailblazing publisher’s dedication to the preservation of Central Park lives on today in many of the park’s most treasured landmarks including the Alice in Wonderland sculpture, the Delacorte Clock and the Delacorte Theater.
This legacy translates into the suite’s design. The suite also features artwork that takes its lead from nature whilst staying true to the hotel's storied history.
A verdant color palette mirrors the flora of the park that the suite fittingly gazes upon. Twinkling marble surfaces emulate the ripples of a pond, while an abstract forest silk print hangs elegantly in the open-plan lounge and dining room.
The hotel’s Bourbon Steak New York sits on the first floor and overlooks Central Park. The restaurant is a love letter to the classic American steakhouse, serving the finest cuts of premium beef and seafood complemented by a cutting-edge wine and spirits program.
