Independent Swiss watch brand HYT — the only brand to use fluid to indicate the time — has stepped things up a notch when it comes to Hydromechanical horology. The all-new H5 watch combines the fluid and mechanics in a new way. In this version, when the fluid reaches the end of its 12-hour time tracking period, it rewinds back to the starting point — offering a colorful orchestration on the wrist. Too technical to explain in this space, the new mechanical movement, caliber 501, features a cam-and-lever system that works in tandem with the patented fluid module so that the watchmaker can more precisely adjust the fluid to the minutes. The fluid is also mixed into a new molecular concentration each time it returns to the bellows before flowing back out into the capillaries, so the wearer gets a different concentration in each time-tracking period.
