IBIZA GRAN HOTEL

Vanity Fair Suite

Ibiza’s most prestigious hotel was designed specifically with comfort and extravagance in mind, combining modern amenities with wonderful views of the sea and the ancient walled town of Dalt Vila across the port.

The hotel features 157 sea-facing, loft-style suites as well as a business center with private rooms, a boutique selling local and international brands, a contemporary art gallery, a casino, three restaurants and a spa.

TOP SUITE GRANDE SUITES

Vanity Fair Suite

Why we love it: The Vanity Fair and Dalt Vila penthouse suites overlook the city’s port and offer some of the best panoramas in the Mediterranean. With a fresh white Ibizan look, they each have two loft-style bedrooms sharing a spacious lounge area and a bathroom with a hydromassage shower and whirlpool bath. Each has its own terrace with a private solarium, heated swimming pool and Jacuzzi. For entertainment guests can enjoy the high definition 40” and 32” LCD TVs and the Bang & Olufsen hi-fi with four-piece MP3 and iPod-compatible BeoSound system.

LA RESIDENCIA

La residencia

In recent years this idyllic mountainside hotel has been making a serious bid to become one of Europe’s most desirable retreats, winning the 2011 Best Country Hotel in Europe in the Sunday Times Travel Magazine Reader Awards.

In fact, La Residencia has long been a favorite among movie stars and rock gods, and its guest list reads like a Beverly Hills phone book. Part of the appeal is the hotel’s proximity to Deià, the artists’ enclave made famous by English poet Robert Graves and a host of wealthy bohemians since. Formerly owned by Richard Branson, La Residencia was snapped up by the Orient Express hotel group in 2002 and given its Mida’s touch. The clay tile floors, whitewashed walls and antique furniture are complemented by modern art and luxury amenities, and the spa and restaurant are among the finest in Mallorca. The two tennis courts are a clincher for the athletically inclined, and when you add regular art exhibitions and classical concerts to the mix you’ll begin to see what all the fuss is about.

TOP SUITE SUITE 66

Suite 66 terra ce

Why we love it: The most private suite in the hotel, Suite 66 sits at the top of an 18th century addition to the main manor house and overlooks the craggy Tramuntana mountains. The spacious living room features a plasma screen TV, DVD player, MP3 player, a wet bar and an open fireplace, and opens out on to a terrace with a private swimming pool and outdoor dining area with a covered pergola. The luxurious bedroom has an adjoining bathroom with separate lavatory and shower areas. The suite is tastefully decorated with original art and antique Mallorcan furniture, and every day the friendly staff will leave fresh fruit and flowers picked from the hotel’s own orchards and garden. Secluded and peaceful, Suite 66 will offer you a wonderfully romantic escape should you want a break from the nautical life.

CAP ROCAT

Cap Rocat

Perched on a clifftop overlooking the Bay of Palma, Cap Rocat is a stunning reinvention of a 19th century fortress and contends for the title of best boutique hotel in Mallorca.

Starchitect Antonio Obrador was behind the design, bringing the magic touch he has previously brought to Claudia Schiffer’s Mallorcan villa and several other award-winning hotels on the island. The subtle interiors give a playful nod to the building’s past – bullets used for door handles, gun carriages as coffee tables – while impressive original features like the drawbridge and bunkers remain. The pièce de résistance is the saltwater infinity pool built on top of the mighty fortress walls. Local fabrics, Moroccan rugs and vintage black and white photos of Mallorca lend an elegant Old World charm to the lounges while the peaceful outdoor terraces benefit from a cool sea breeze and awe-inspiring views.

TOP SUITE EL CABO SUITE

El Cabo suiteWhy we love it: Occupying the most secluded position in the fortress, the El Cabo suite features a large living room adorned with contemporary art and an expansive garden with a terrace, canopied bed and private pool. The suite includes a plasma screen TV, internet connection, electronic safe, private bar and luxury amenities, as well as a 24-hour concierge, room service, security and private transfer. Guests can enjoy breakfast served on the private patio or in the main courtyard of the fortress.
