Four Seasons Hotel New York Downtown has recently unveiled the stunningly redesigned Empire Suite, formerly known as the Royal Suite, to coincide with the hotel’s fourth anniversary.
Debuting to the public on January 1, 2021, the 2,400-sq-ft Empire Suite offers an ambiance more akin to a residential city abode than a hotel suite. In a nod to downtown New York’s vibrant atmosphere, the suite’s newly imagined interior features an eclectic yet tasteful mix of colors and textures, while still letting the impressive natural light and open plan design take center stage – which in of the world’s busiest cities is more than welcome.
Reinvigorated by celebrated British interior designer Tara Bernerd and her team at Tara Bernerd & Partners, the suite is now an inviting haven. By maximizing the available space with thoughtful furniture placement, Tara has taken advantage of the impressive 180-degree views across the skyline on offer from Four Seasons New York Downtown’s 24th floor, creating the perfect backdrop.

Speaking about the Empire Suite project, Tara Bernerd has said: “When approaching the redesign, it was key to consider the lifestyle of the well-traveled, design-conscious guest, staying in such a notable location.
“Aiming to reinvigorate the space to cater to a more discerning downtown crowd, we brought a fresh palette to the space, layering soft linens, warm timbers and striking marbles in the reception areas […] This bold design language is continued through the rest of the suite, with hand-painted silk wall panels in the master bedroom, bronze mirrored inserts in the warm wooden paneling line the hall, while the media room’s felt wall details are reminiscent of a sharply tailored suit.”
As well as celebrating open space, the Empire Suite also offers cozy nooks from which to retreat from the hustle and bustle of the city including the aforementioned media room and a cocoon-like second bedroom that doubles up as a study.
Featuring a living room, dining room, media room, study, walk-in closet, two bathrooms, master bedroom and a full catering kitchen, the palatial Empire Suite has ample space to relax, but those looking for a little extra room can opt to make use of the adjoining rooms providing room for up to six.
