By Ellys Woodhouse

Florida-based fans of New York’s hospitality darlings – The Greenwich, The Bowery or The Mercer – listen up. BD Hotels, the powerhouse team behind some of New York City’s most storied stays, is unveiling its first venture beyond the Big Apple. Nestled in the heart of West Palm Beach’s emerging Nora District, The Nora Hotel is set to offer a refreshing take on BD’s signature brand of boutique luxury – only this time on a much grander scale.

The Nora District itself is a 40-acre pedestrian-friendly hub in downtown West Palm Beach, brought to life by NDT Development and Place Projects. Envisioned as a vibrant mixed-use neighborhood, this area brings together upscale residential spaces, boutique retail – and now, a standout hotel. The Nora Hotel is set to stand as a new local landmark, offering a lush escape within reach of Palm Beach’s famed island and beaches.

At its core, The Nora Hotel will pay homage to iconic Palm Beach architecture, drawing inspiration from 20th-century architect Addison Mizner’s signature style seen across the Sunshine State. Mizner’s Mediterranean and Spanish Colonial Revival influences are evident in every detail – from vibrant, hand-crafted tiles and arched corridors to rich natural materials that exude timeless elegance.

Inside, New York-based Gachot Studios is set to bring its acclaimed elegant design approach to The Nora’s interiors. Meanwhile, Stantec, a leader in sustainable architecture, serves as the project’s design architect, ensuring The Nora is both visually captivating and environmentally conscious.

A strong culinary lineup awaits, led by BD’s dining partner, James Beard Award-winner Stephen Starr. Pastis, a Parisian-style brasserie adored by New Yorkers, will anchor the hotel’s ground floor, while an additional restaurant and lounge on site (also headed by STARR Restaurants) will also provide in-room dining services.

Taking the lift to the very top, guests will discover a rooftop retreat featuring two bars, a lounge and private cabanas. A lushly landscaped garden dining area surrounds the rooftop pool, while panoramic views over the district provide a serene escape high above West Palm Beach’s vibrant energy.
