For such a small island in the southeast of the West Indies, Grenada seems to offer the essence of the Caribbean in abundance: lush rolling hilltops, soft white sand, the smell of nutmeg and spices hanging in the air. While you’ll be forgiven if Grenada has previously flown under your radar, the opening of Silversands Beach House suggests it’s not going to remain lesser known for much longer.

Welcoming its first guests just last week, the Beach House is the second Silversands property on the Spice Island. As a sister to the beachfront boutique Silversands Grand Anse – ranked in Elite Traveler’s Top 50 Best Beach Suites last year – which opened in 2018, Silversands Beach House is a slightly more intimate resort, with just 28 canopied rooms and suites available.
Each of Silversands Beach House’s rooms sits embedded amongst the Grenandan hillside and has been designed to complement the flora and fauna of its natural surroundings. From cliff to beachside, each seamlessly blends indoor and outdoor living, offering breathtaking views of lush mountains or unspoiled ocean shores.

While each of the rooms offers privacy with its own canopied terrace, the Two-Bedroom Ocean View Suite seems the most exclusive of the accommodation offerings, perched atop the highest point of the resort. Meanwhile, the Beachfront Junior Suite with its direct access to the beach means it is practically a hop from your bed to the sand.
If that wasn’t enough rest and relaxation, there is a treatment room on hand with a range of signature spa treatments from the Silversands Spa. For dining options, while there may be only one restaurant at Silversands Beach House, Azzurro delivers plenty, blending the charm of the Caribbean with the fresh flavors of the Mediterranean.

Guests can also use the regular shuffle service to make the 10-minute journey to Silversands Grand Anse to make full use of its facilities, including its three restaurants, state-of-the-art spa, and 100m infinity pool – the largest in the Caribbean – before returning to the tranquil hideaway on Portici Beach.
While this makes it all the more tempting to remain within the hotels’ comfort and confines, the team at Silversands is on hand to help guests experience the island’s true gems; whether that’s the incredible snorkeling and scuba diving sites or joining in on the celebrations for the island’s 50th anniversary of political independence.
