Etihad Airways, the national airline of the United Arab Emirates, has opened a sales office in Chicago as it prepares for the launch of non-stop service to Abu Dhabi on September 2. Etihad Airways will operate three times a week between Chicago and its hub at Abu Dhabi International Airport, with evening departures. The service will increase to daily starting in October.
Robin Middleton, Etihad Airways’ regional general manager, Americas, said: “Momentum is building quickly with the launch of Etihad’s second US destination only a few months away. The Etihad Chicago team continues to grow and we are delighted to open the new sales office in the city.” Etihad passengers arriving from Chicago will be able to connect quickly to 28 cities in the Middle East, the Indian subcontinent, Africa and Australia. Convenient transfers to Dubai, just 75 miles north of Abu Dhabi, take 90 minutes by taxi or car service.
In September, Etihad will introduce individual suites on its long-haul aircraft serving North America, Australia and other destinations, part of a $70 million revamp of its first class designed to provide passengers with the ultimate in luxury, privacy and comfort.
The new Etihad office is in the John Hancock Center at 875 North Michigan Avenue, telephone 212 707 0271 (temporary NYC number in the Chicago office).
