Six Senses to Open Resort on South Carolina Islands

The new outpost will welcome guests in 2026.

By Irenie Forshaw

It feels like hardly a month goes by without Six Senses announcing yet another luxury outpost. This time, the brand is putting down roots on the shores of South Carolina, with an expansive property spanning three tranquil islands.

Slated to open in 2026, Six Senses South Carolina Islands will comprise an eco-conscious resort, spa and an exclusive residential community. Hilton Head Island will serve as the main ‘welcome hub’ and entry point to the property; here guests will be able to board a hybrid yacht or electric boat to travel around the resort.

Daufuskie Island – the southernmost inhabited sea island in South Carolina – is set to feature a collection of elegant guest rooms and private suites peppered along the beachfront. While details remain sparse for the time being, we also know Six Senses is planning to build an all-day restaurant on Daufuskie, as well as a specialty eatery and bar, beach club and pool grill.

Guests will have the chance to take part in an array of experiences here, from water sports and fishing to sailing adventures. Those looking for something a bit more relaxing will be able to unwind and relax at the Six Senses spa, immersing themselves in the yoga and meditation classes on offer. Six Senses has committed to constructing a series of village homes on Daufuskie to provide residential housing for the community.

Six Senses South Carolina Islands will also comprise a collection of self-contained branded residential villas on Bay Point Island, with a limited number due to go on sale later in 2024. The luxury brand partnered with real estate developer Whitestone for the project; together they will build a group of eco-friendly properties powered by renewable energy with state-of-the-art waste handling in place.

“This project is a celebration of Six Senses and Whitestone’s shared vision to seamlessly blend integrated wellness with the untamed beauty of the natural world, redefine living spaces with a commitment to ecological mindfulness, quite literally sowing the seeds of a new era,” commented Timothy Pitcher, president of Whitestone.

Six Senses CEO, Neil Jacobs, added: “After a few years in the making, we’re delighted and excited to be partnering with Whitestone and Redrock in the creation of two special connected communities that speak to the beauty of their environments and honor the people and culture of the area.”
