Michelin Reveals Florida Guide for 2024

We take a look at the restaurants that stole the show at this year’s awards.

By Irenie Forshaw

Michelin has revealed the third edition of its guide to the best restaurants in Florida for 2024. Miami eateries took center stage once again with L’Atelier de Joel Robuchon maintaining its two-star status and holding onto its coveted title as the only two-starred restaurant in the Sunshine State for the third year in a row.

The Florida selection saw the addition of nine one-star restaurants to the prestigious guide, including chef Ebbe Vollmer’s eponymous eatery in Tampa. This was especially impressive as the restaurant only opened last May; Vollmer caught inspectors’ attention with his “clever and confident” cooking without any “superfluous fuss”. His Scandi-style tasting menu features the likes of braised oxtail with seared foie gras and turbot with a generous heap of sturgeon caviar.

In Orlando, chef Tung Phan’s ten-course Vietnamese-French tasting menu scooped his restaurant, Camille, a star. Michelin praised Phan’s “refined twist” on traditional Vietnamese flavors, highlighting his show-stopping desserts as winning dishes (the sweet potato brioche topped with a ‘gold’ chocolate ice cream sounds divine).

Miami saw three additional restaurants bestowed with a star. Chefs Evan Burgess and Osmel Gonzalez dazzled with their contemporary a la carte menu at EntreNos, while Masayuki Komatsu stunned with his enticing omakase dishes at Ogawa, spanning everything from baby sea eels with a soy-cured quail egg to lotus root, wild yam and langoustine tempura.

The last Miami eatery to scoop a star was Shingo – a 14-seat counter in Coral Gables. Here, chef Akikuni uses the finest quality fish sourced almost entirely from Japan to craft elegant sushi dishes.

Finally, the 2024 Florida Michelin Guide awarded two restaurants with Green Stars in recognition of their eco-friendly cooking credentials. Filipino fine dining eatery Kaya in Orlando sources 90% of its produce from Florida farms, while Los Felix/ Krus Kitchen in Miami has eliminated the use of environmentally destructive seed oils entirely.
