The Restaurant
Located near Kyoto's Yasaka Shrine, Gion Nishikawa offers an exquisite Kyoto dining experience within a traditional sukiya-style building, complete with a miniature garden. Chef Masayoshi Nishikawa, born and raised in Kyoto, has dedicated himself to refining his beloved Kyoto cuisine since childhood. The restaurant has maintained two Michelin stars for fifteen consecutive years, a testament to its remarkable hospitality and cuisine. Nishikawa's dedication extends to sourcing the finest ingredients, reflecting his respect for both the components and the producers. He even draws water from Yasaka Shrine for his soup stock. The tasting menu changes daily, showcasing the best seasonal flavors. Rather than soy sauce, Nishikawa seasons sea bream with boiled condensed sake, and shellfish with mustard-vinegared miso.
