The Restaurant
HANA-Kitcho offers a modern Japanese dining experience in Kyoto's vibrant Gion district, a center of traditional culture. The restaurant's name, "Hana," nods to its location in Kyoto's geiko quarter, also known as the hanamachi or "flower quarter." The interior showcases works by renowned artists, with sculptors crafting a modern take on the Rinpa School of Painting. Traditional washi paper with floral patterns adorns the ground floor corridor, further emphasizing the hanamachi theme. Moss and marble create a checkered pattern, exemplifying the restaurant's innovative decor. As of February 2025, HANA-Kitcho holds one Michelin star, a testament to its high-quality cooking. Uniquely, it is the only Kyoto Kitcho branch that offers counter seating, allowing guests to savor seasonal à la carte dishes alongside authentic Kaiseki cuisine.
