Le Meurice is one of Paris’s finest hotels, and within it lies one of the city’s best bars. Bar 228 was formed when the hotel decided to convert its library, but much of the original décor remains unchanged. With stacked bookshelves and dark wood walls, it retains all of the hallmarks of a sophisticated reading space, but now you can enjoy a delightful cocktail at the same time. Sink into one of the bar’s decadent leather seats and tilt your head skywards to marvel at the amazing hand-painted ceiling. Try the signature Le 228, a refreshing mix of champagne, pear, lychee and raspberry. As well as a range of crafted cocktails, the bar also stocks a range of vintage champagnes and over 50 Scotch whiskies, which are served in bespoke Riedel glasses.
