Inside the New Four Seasons Hotel in Osaka, Japan

Four Seasons Hotel Osaka is the brand’s fourth Japan location, joining properties in Tokyo and Kyoto.

By Iustina Roman

Four Seasons is continuing its expansion into Japan’s luxury hotel scene with the opening of its latest property in Osaka, one of Japan’s most vibrant cities.

The hotel is located within the new 640-ft One Dojima building near Osaka station. The Dojima neighborhood is a great starting point for visitors; here you can explore anything from cozy cafes and cool bars to scenic shrines. It is also close to some of the city’s famed shopping streets and attractions such as Osaka Castle.

As expected from a Four Seasons hotel, the brand’s latest development features modern and serene interiors created by three Japanese designers. Carefully chosen elements and harmonious color palettes combine with natural stone and wood finishes to evoke a tranquil atmosphere.

The distinct Japaneseness of the hotel’s design sets the scene for its unmatched service, taking world-renowned concepts of Japanese hospitality to new heights.

Stay

What sets Four Seasons Hotel Osaka apart from other luxury properties is its dedicated Gensui floor, a first in the city. Catering to a growing desire for authentic Japanese experiences that combine luxury and tradition, the 28th floor of the building is designed as a contemporary ryokan (traditional inn) within the heart of the bustling city.

Upon entering, guests are welcomed with a cup of green tea and asked to remove their shoes on the tatami-matted floors. The rooms and suites on this floor are the epitome of modern Japanese design principles. Expect low-slung seats, silent sliding doors and futon-style sleeping platforms with washi paper headboards.

However, no compromises were made between comfort and minimalism: each room and suite features state-of-the-art amenities, a marble bathroom and floor-to-ceiling windows with showstopping views of the city. To complete the experience, other amenities include yukatas (relaxed cotton kimonos) and a mini-bar. Guests staying on the Gensui floor also enjoy exclusive access to Sabo tea lounge, which serves bento-style breakfasts, tea rituals and wine and sake in the evening.

Moreover, Four Seasons Hotel Osaka has 130 more guest rooms and 24 suites on the upper floors of the hotel. The Presidential, Grand Osaka and Dojima Suites are the most lavish accommodations, with panoramic skyline views and plenty of space for lounging and working.
