The Top Wellness Hotel Suites in the World

A collection of hotels and resorts that are taking well-being to the next level.

By Alex Martin

Elite Traveler is pleased to present the second edition of Top 50 Wellness Hotel Suites in the World, featuring a collection of the best hotels, resorts and exclusive-use accommodations that take the concept of well-being to the next level.

The search for well-being is intrinsically tied to travel. We travel to find respite, solace and space, to reconnect with loved ones, and to reflect on life’s tribulations. We travel in the hope of returning with our mind, body and soul in a better place than when we left.

In this collection, you’ll find extraordinary in-suite facilities, such as zen gardens, private treatment rooms and hammams, all for your exclusive use. In some cases, we have selected a suite not for their private facilities, but because the hotel is a world leader in spa and wellness facilities.

But for many of us, wellness can’t be found in a spa treatment room. We have also included suites that are in spectacular locations and encourage guests to explore the natural world around them. From the rolling hills of Provence to the healing waters of Yucatan, you’ll find an eclectic mix of wellness wonders with our inaugural collection.

Below, we take a look at a selection from the Top 50 Wellness Hotel Suites.

Treehouse Suite, Twin Farms

Absorb the fresh forest air as you sit among the trees in one of Twin Farms' Treehouse Suites. The modern interiors contrast with log-cabin-y facades that blend in between lush branches. They hover 14 to 20 ft above ground, encompassing 800 sq ft each. Bath lovers won’t leave the tub, which feels like a nest among the leaves, and those with a penchant for fireplaces will snuggle before the drop-down floating fireplace with glee.

Four-bedroom Villa, Sensei Porcupine Creek

Although proudly inspired by Sensei Lāna’i, A Four Seasons Resort, Sensei Porcupine has managed to cut its own path in the wellness world on a former private estate at the foot of California’s Santa Rosa Mountains. On 230 acres, with a golf course and world-class tennis facilities, Sensei Porcupine offers a range of wellness experiences, from yoga to nutrition to sports injury management. Invite your favorite golf foursome to share the majestic Four-bedroom Premium Villa, set along the course amid captivating natural terrain.

The Post House, Post Ranch Inn

Post Ranch Inn is a rustically elegant outpost situated off California's legendary Highway 1. Recharge your spirit as you relax into unfussy luxury and some of the best spa treatments in the US. Try the Shaman Journey session, where a guide connects you with ancient wisdom and surrounding nature. Settle into The Post House, a one-bedroom, 1,800-sq-ft oasis of grandeur with kitchen and designer appliances, a media room, and dining room. The master bedroom and living area open to a huge backyard and patio area, enlivened with a hot tub.

Royal Villa, Chablé Yucatán

Chablé Yucatán emerges from the bones of a 19th-century hacienda deep in the Mexican jungle. Tuck into the spa’s cenote, one of the region’s natural springs sacred to the Mayans. Decompress further in your Royal Villa, a 10,000-sq-ft residence with three bedrooms, a private spa cabin, movie theater, pool and outdoor dining. And there’s always a quiet spot in this villa to take respite from your traveling companions. Romantics will love the artsy headboard, tooled by artisans from a recovered tree, and a massive 1,100-lb double tub, its limestone drawn from a local quarry.

The Founder’s Villa is a shining example of timeless class, gorgeous design and natural beauty that it feels somewhat like a modern-day James Bond set. Designed to maximize the natural light of the ocean-facing property, the villa offers immersive views of stunning Mexican Caribbean waters. The beach sits just a stone’s throw away from a 92-ft infinity pool.

For well-heeled solace seekers who’ve wisely chosen to hide away in The Retreat at Blue Lagoon’s pièce de résistance, The Blue Lagoon Suite, blessed idleness will ensue. The suite, forged in the same luxurious, Nordic-meets-Italian contemporary style as the rest of the hotel, boasts relaxation-inducing powers well beyond the scientifically noted virtues of the resort’s milky-blue geothermal lagoon.

Grand Suite, Mezzatorre Hotel & Thermal Spa

Reconsider or reaffirm your life’s path within your personal on the terrace of the Grand Suite, a glorious place to muse. The suite is set within a tower at Mezzatorre Hotel & Thermal Spa, a member of Leading Hotels of the World. The 861-sq-ft bolthole’s jewel in the crown is a deep soaking tub that faces a picture window framing sea views. Once a wellness hotspot for health-seeking Romans, the island of Ischia’s healing reputation dates back centuries.

Vineyard Garden Suite, Six Senses Douro Valley

Built within a 19th-century wine estate overlooking the Douro River, Six Senses Douro Valley has a wine library and a notable spa where treatments take power from the benefits of the local olives and grapes. Find bliss in one of the three Vineyard Garden Suites — located in an exclusive wing of the hotel, the 1,022-sq-ft suite has one bedroom and multiple lounge areas inside, and a generous terrace with vineyard views and a hot tub outside.

Lake View Royal Suite, Bürgenstock Hotel & Alpine Spa

Words — nay, not even an entire choir singing alto from a stage at nearby Lucerne’s Jean Nouvel-designed concert hall, renowned for its astonishing acoustics — can express the glorious wonders of Bürgenstock Hotel and Alpine Spa. Look for multilevel Alpine Spa’s infinity pool which (literally) stands out, jutting over the lake like a magic carpet ride. Take repose in the spacious 3,315-sq-ft Lake View Royal Suite, where you can play your own Steinway piano, enjoy your personal sauna or bathe in your window-side Jacuzzi tub, in awe of the views.

Thoughtfully equipped with a personal treatment room, this splendid 5,000-sq-ft suite holds two bedrooms (one with a marble master bath with fireplace), a Chinoiserie entrance, two lavish bathrooms, a Macassar ebony dining room, a personal butler (and driver), and access to an extensive private wine collection. You’ll swoon over the master bath, trimmed with a honey onyx floor and yellow Skyros marble walls. Stand on the extensive private terrace to gape at sweeping views that include South Bank and St Paul’s Cathedral.
