The expansive 500-acre luxury resort Grand Lakes Orlando – which sits next door to The Ritz-Carlton Orlando, Grande Lakes and JW Marriott Orlando, Grande Lakes – has revealed a new premium experience for its guests, The Kennedy Space Center Helicopter Tour. Taking visitors directly from the acclaimed resort – which sits at the headwaters of the Florida Everglades – to the world-famous Kennedy Space Center in a state-of-the-art EC-130 helicopter.
As Nasa’s primary launch center, the Kennedy Space Center is arguably one of the most important space sites in the world, as it is where the Apollo Astronauts launched from on their way to the moon.
This unique experience by Galactic Medallion, a space tour experience company, will take up to four guests and blend a mixture of helicopter-based exhilaration and education as attendees explore the Space Center.
The tour begins by ticking off all the important sites, like the Vehicle Assembly Building and Shuttle Landing Strip, before heading south to Port Canaveral where the helicopter will touch down. At this point, guests will be met by a guide who will take them on a private tour of the Nasa facilities.
On this tour, visitors will discover key details about the past, present and future of space exploration in addition to America’s space program. Guests will also get to spend time at some of space explorations’ most important vehicles such as viewing the Apollo-Saturn V Rocket (the rocket that took man to the moon) and the Atlantis Orbiter while also visiting the Astronaut Hall of Fame.
If they choose, for an extra cost guests can take a bus tour with an ex-Nasa Shuttle Era astronaut or take a tour with ex-launch director of the shuttle program, Mike Leinbach.

All this morning excitement is followed by an upscale late lunch at a classy rooftop venue, that provides views across Indian River and of course, the Kennedy Space Center. This setting also provides the perfect opportunity for those on the experience to engage with a ‘distinguished guest speaker.’
To round off a full day of activities, guests enjoy a champagne toast, before hopping back in the helicopter and heading back home to Grand Lakes Orlando as the sun sets.
Starting at a price of $12,800 for four guests, this experience is set to be the ultimate day out for those with a keen interest in space exploration. In partnership with Galactic Medallion, Grand Lakes Orlando will also be hosting several on-property space-related experiences during the Labour Day weekend.
