Sabi Sabi Earth Lodge has transformed its much-loved Amber Suite into a stunning private villa spanning over 2,500 sq ft.
Set within the Sabi Sand Game Reserve in South Africa’s Greater Kruger National Park, the eco-friendly lodge is comprised of just 13 stand-alone suites. The completion of Amber Villa brings the final phase of renovations to a close.
Sabi Sabi brought in long-term collaborator Dakota Designs for the project. Every effort was taken to ensure the villa fits seamlessly in with the bush environment; natural textiles and rich woods feature heavily, while an earthy color palette has been used to mimic the surroundings.

Ideal for families, Amber Villa boasts two bedrooms and bathrooms, comfortably sleeping up to four guests (a fifth can be accommodated on request).
Stepping into the master bedroom, the first thing you’ll notice is the imposing headboard carved from local Matumi wood. A wooden door leads through to a spacious dressing room and a small private fitness area complete with a treadmill and spinning bike.
The ensuite master bathroom also deserves a mention here; the enormous freestanding tub is the perfect spot to relax with a glass of bubbly looking out at the wildlife.
Evenings can be spent unwinding with loved ones in the generous lounge. Dotted with sofas and day beds, it’s an ideal space for cooling off during the scorching afternoons – there’s even a fully stocked bar.
The outside spaces are just as impressive. Sliding glass doors open onto the shady terrace where you’ll find hanging egg-shaped chairs and a plunge pool with sun loungers.
When you can bring yourself to step foot outside of the villa, Sabi Sabi’s knowledgeable ranger and experienced tracker are on hand to take you out in your own private game vehicle for safari rides specially tailored to your interests.
Prices for the Amber Villa at Sabi Sabi Earth Lodge start at R105,000 (approx. $5,400) per night.
