The Ritz-Carlton, Grand Cayman Makes Five-star History

The first Caribbean resort to achieve the elusive triple crown in the Forbes Travel Guide.

By Elite Traveler

The Ritz-Carlton brand is renowned for setting a high bar when it comes to luxury. Nowhere is this better reflected than The Ritz-Carlton, Grand Cayman, which earned five-star awards for its hotel, spa and restaurant in this year’s Forbes Travel Guide.

While several hotels receive five stars for perhaps one or two of these categories, to be awarded the highest level for all three is a significant achievement. The Ritz-Carlton, Grand Cayman is the first Caribbean resort to earn the triple crown and one of only 15 hotels worldwide.

Evoking the essence of timeless luxury, it’s no surprise that The Ritz-Carlton, Grand Cayman has achieved this recognition. Situated on the picturesque shores of the globally recognized Seven Mile Beach, this hotel could not be better positioned.

Its 369 well-appointed rooms transport visitors to an oasis of serenity, specifically curated by Champalimaud Design. The hotel is home to the most impressive luxury suite on the island, Seven South, and the island’s largest ballroom.

The five-star restaurant in question is Blue by industry legend Eric Ripert, perhaps the crowning achievement given it’s the only restaurant in the Caribbean to receive five stars in the Forbes Travel Guide. Lauded for his expertise with seafood, Ripert has leaned into what he does best. Blue highlights the region’s impressive produce with carefully crafted tasting menus. Of course, the wine list lives up to what is expected from a multi-Michelin-star chef, featuring over 700 bottles from around the world. Ripert also leads the charge on the annual Cayman Cookout, known as one of the most luxurious food festivals in the world.

Rounding out the five-star winning triplet is the hotel spa, The Ritz-Carlton Spa, Grand Cayman. Worth a visit in its own right, this spa showcases a bespoke collection of revitalizing treatments featuring products from prestigious brands like ESPA and III Skin. The spa’s body therapies utilize the healing properties of marine plants and natural elements, harnessing the spa and hotel’s connection with the ocean.

Certainly a destination to be considered for families, there is something here for everyone. Jean-Michel Cousteau’s Ambassadors of the Environment programming lets guests of all ages immerse themselves in the vibrant landscape’s impressive flora and fauna.

Starfish Cay water park, in addition to various activities like tennis, pickleball and the basketball courts help keep those looking to stay active moving. Or those looking for a little slower pace could check out the impressive Greg Norman-designed nine-hole golf course and indoor simulator.
