Earlier this year, Swiss watch brand Girard-Perregaux announced its role as the offcial watch partner for Aston Martin. The first watch born of the partnership is a signature complication for which Girard-Perregaux has been known: the Tourbillon with Three Bridges. However, this is nor the same Tourbillon with Three Bridges that we have witnessed in the past. Now, the three bridges are flying' - meaning they are suspended within the case on both sides so that they look as though they are floating in space. The effect is made even more dramatic thanks to the box-like structure of the sapphire crystal on both the front and back of the watch. Additionally for a more stealth appeal, the 44mm case is crafted in black DLC (Diamond-Like Carbon) treated grade 5 titanium. The self-winding mechanical movement consists of 260 individually finished and assembled components, as well as 27 jewels. The 79-part tourbillon escapement so light that it weighs just 0.250 grams. Even the strap is a world-first - it is made of black leather with a proprietary rubber alloy with an insert injected with white gold. The Aston Martin name is engraved on the micro-rotor and is filled with a blue luminescent coating. Just 18 pieces will be made.
