Lalique Reveals New Nature-Inspired Collection

By Lauren Jade Hill

By Lauren Jade Hill

Drawing on the source of inspiration Lalique’s identity was originally built on, the latest collection takes nature as its muse, from tropical flora to the urban wilderness. Within the Nature Sauvage collection, items exhibiting a fresh take on classic Lalique designs feature alongside entirely new creations; the iconic Champs-Élysées bowl, which was first designed in 1951 by Marc Lalique, has now been given a new look through alternative sizes and colors, while the rhinoceros design transpired from numerous requests from design aficionados; the rhino often features in artworks as a symbol of strength and protection.

Contrasts abound throughout the collection, from the powerful designs of the lion, rhinoceros, gorilla, crocodile and hippopotamus, to the fall leaves that distinguish many of the key items, and the overlaid tropical flora of the Palme vase. And as each piece is handmade by Lalique’s skilled artisans, precise craftsmanship enhances the purity of crystal used. We take a look at some of the items in this new collection by the self-proclaimed sculptor of light.
