The Restaurant
Ogata embodies the essence of Kyoto, transforming a former home and kimono store with the craftsmanship of carpenters trained under Sotoji Nakamura. The architecture is intentionally simple, creating a meditative state from the moment you step through the gate. Chef Toshiro Ogata, formerly of Wakuden, opened Ogata in 2008, earning immediate acclaim. Ogata has been awarded two Michelin stars for 2024. The cuisine showcases premium seasonal ingredients, highlighting the subtle shifts in flavor tied intimately to Japanese kaiseki. The skill and dedication of the chefs, as well as their commitment to using quality ingredients, are highly appreciated.
