The Restaurant
Wagokoro Izumi, a serene escape in Kyoto, resides in a traditional machiya townhouse, a short walk from Shijo Station. Chef Masaki Izumi, once the most promising apprentice at the celebrated Sakurada, carries on its legacy at this two-Michelin-star kaiseki restaurant, a distinction held since 2015. Izumi's goal is to offer enduringly memorable Kyoto cuisine, hoping diners will connect with the ancient capital's four seasons through his culinary stylings. Festivals and ceremonies are woven into the food, complemented by beautiful arrangements. The kimono-clad service staff display the same respect for traditional culture.
