Daniel

A chic, two-Michelin-starred restaurant nestled within the Upper East Side.

By Emma Reynolds

Daniel is a two-Michelin-starred restaurant helmed by French chef Daniel Boulud, serving New French cuisine. The Upper East Side restaurant is a veritable Manhattan institution since its opening in 1993, with lovely decor, service, wine cellar and European-style cuisine. Boulud is known for preserving French techniques and teaching those in his kitchen to do the same. The seasonal menu focuses on wild game, meats, seafood and fresh fruits and vegetables, paired with the best wine from Rhône and Burgundy. Enjoy the four-course prix-fixe menu consisting of dishes like poularde with tarragon mustard, lentil salad and batek berries; or Crabe Royal, a king crab salad with honeycrisp apple kohlrabi, sesame tuile and poppy seed gelée; or Meyer lemon-ginger cured fluke, among others. There are endless dishes to choose from, each better than the last. Enjoy meals in the main dining room, the lounge or the bar. The wine selection is particularly impressive: There are more than 1,570 wine selections and 24,000 bottles.
