As the number in its name suggests, 1 Hotel Mayfair can’t stop coming out on top. Since its opening on the corner of Berkeley Street in July 2023, the hotel has achieved a number of significant milestones for both the sustainably conscious brand and, more widely, London’s luxury hospitality scene.
The first European opening for the US-based brand, tick. The capital’s “first eco-luxury hotel“, tick. And now with the opening of 1 Hotel Mayfair’s Green Park Penthouse suite, the hotel can add the largest one-bedroom suite in Mayfair to its growing belt of accolades.
The Green Park Penthouse’s size is something that cannot be understated. Despite the dozens of journalists buzzing around for the suite’s opening, it’s far from cramped in its 2,949 sq ft of space. And while we’re not about to get the calculators out, for £15,000 ($19,100) a night, you can do a lot more damage in this corner of the capital.

That space is only amplified by the suite’s double-height ceilings and panoramic views across Piccadilly and Green Park. The floor-to-ceiling windows open up to the sweeping wrap-around terrace, where you can practically reach across and shake hands with neighbors The Ritz and The Wolseley.
The proximity of 1 Hotel Mayfair to these landmark watering holes feels like a perfect metaphor for the brand’s approach to luxury. Where The Ritz and those alike honor old notions of English gentility, 1 Hotel Mayfair looks forward to a greener future.

And that’s none less exemplified by the Green Park Penthouse’s luxurious furnishings, where the use of rich and earthy natural tones and soft textiles envelop the space with a sense of calm.
The terms ‘upcycling’ and ‘recycling’ usually don’t accompany descriptions of luxury, but looking around 1 Hotel Mayfair’s penthouse quickly quells any concerns – from the raw timber dining table to the bespoke bar made from the ginormous trunk of a naturally fallen oak tree, complete with its own dedicated mixologist. The library wall, which can pivot to change the layout of the space, and the huge two-sided fireplace similarly marry laid-back opulence with future-thinking design.

Along with the engulfing social area, there is the separate primary bedroom, dining space, wardrobe area and bathroom, which showcases the two-person (although given its size it may be more accurate to say four-person) sunken tiger stone bathtub, double-headed rain shower, and even a sauna.
For those who wish to make more of the suite’s space, upon request the penthouse can be further expanded to accommodate three bedrooms and a private gym, fitted with Technogym training equipment. There’s also the offer of in-room spa treatments, private personal training sessions and fitness classes including yoga and Pilates available, too.
