First Look Inside Soho House Mexico City

The new outpost is the brand's first destination in Latin America.

By Irenie Forshaw

Soho House is continuing to expand its global presence with an elegant new outpost in Mexico City. Situated within a meticulously restored historic casa in the heart of Colonia Juárez, the property is the brand’s very first destination in Latin America.

As you would expect, there are plenty of places to socialize and relax including several bars (one is dedicated entirely to tequila) and a tranquil outdoor courtyard. A 62-ft pool sits beside a beautiful glass-encased Pool House where members can enjoy simple sharing dishes prepared on the grill.

Being a Soho House property there are, of course, several laptop-friendly spots including a bright, airy library and drawing room. In the basement, the building’s former wine cellar has been transformed into several cozy lounge spaces and a vinyl bar to host member events and listening parties.

Soho House Mexico City has an impressive culinary offering, crafted by Christopher Kostow (executive chef at three-Michelin-starred The Restaurant at Meadowood in Napa Valley). The menus served across the property are brimming with local produce; standout dishes include caviar with tortilla chips, slow-cooked short rib, and grilled baja lobster.

Members also have the option to stay overnight. Up on the second floor of the main house lie four bedrooms adorned with signature Soho House furnishings, handmade tapestries, and throws from Oaxaca.

Ensuring the rooms are as comfortable as they are stylish, the emperor-size beds are topped with goose-down bedding and Egyptian cotton sheets. The larger rooms also feature expansive bathrooms complete with freestanding marble bathtubs and pretty mosaic-tiled floors.

Perhaps most exciting of all is the expansive art collection dotted throughout the property. Featuring over 150 works from artists born, based, or trained in Mexico, the pieces span everything from murals to pottery reflecting Latin America’s diverse creative scene. Look out for the striking installation in the reception area crafted by Gabriel Rosas Aleman and Maria Fernanda Camarena.

For those looking to give back to the local community, in November Soho House and the Creative Futures Collective are set to launch a 16-week mentoring program that pairs young people with Soho House members to help grow their connections.
