Having first opened its doors in one of Los Angeles’s most exclusive neighborhoods in the summer of 1946, Hotel Bel-Air is now approaching its 75th anniversary. To mark the milestone, the hotel has announced a program of events and packages across the month of August.
In its long lifetime, Hotel Bel-Air’s discrete service, opulent décor and first-class service have made it a go-to getaway spot for the world’s elite, with the hotel having welcomed celebrities, business moguls and international dignitaries alike through its doors. Marilyn Monroe even famously called one of the hotel’s suites home for a time, cementing its reputation as being the epitome of Golden Age Hollywood glamour.
To showcase its star-studded history, Hotel Bel-Air is hosting a one-off exhibition featuring 14 archival photographs of the hotel throughout the years. The exhibition will run throughout the month of August, inviting guests to look back in time at the moments that shaped its ongoing legacy.

Hotel Bel-Air’s food and beverage outlets are also launching special offerings in celebration of the milestone. At Wolfgang Puck Hotel Bel-Air, guests can enjoy an anniversary edition of the restaurant’s classic afternoon tea offering, complete with a glass of champagne, while the hotel’s Bar & Lounge has revealed a menu of specially created cocktails to toast the occasion, including the Bel-Air 75.
Alternatively, for an extra special way to celebrate, opt for the Bel-Air Under the Stars Anniversary Edition, where guests can stargaze while toasting marshmallows over their own private pit, accompanied by a choice of anniversary cocktail and a carefully prepared light dinner from the Wolfgang Puck restaurant.
The glamorous Hotel Bel-Air Spa is also offering a special package to mark the occasion. Seventy-five Years of Hotel Bel-Air Bliss gives guests a chance to fully unwind in blissful settings with an indulgent fragranced bath experience, a 60-minute massage and a pedicure.
“For the last 75 years, Hotel Bel-Air has attracted Hollywood A-listers and notables from around the world. Marilyn Monroe did her last photoshoot at the hotel, Grace Kelly celebrated her Oscar win in one of our suites, Elizabeth Taylor lived at the hotel while she was married to Nicky Hilton…these stories go on and on,” says Hotel Bel-Air general manager Denise Flanders.

“The hotel debuted as an instant classic, and it has only become greater over time. What makes the hotel magical is in part its heritage-driven allure, but also in large part the caring service of our employees. Our employees’ ability to give each and every one of our guests a truly unforgettable experience has allowed Hotel Bel-Air to bridge generations for many decades and remain as relevant as ever.”
Part of the prestigious hotel’s development has included updating its offering to match modern environmental expectations. No longer are its elite clientele concerned with just opulence; they want to travel consciously.
In response, Hotel Bel-Air has introduced a number of initiatives to lower its impact, including a partnership with Clean the World. This collaboration sees discarded hygiene products repurposed and sanitized, before being distributed across homeless shelters across the US and beyond. Not only does this help build vital hygiene kits, it also minimizes waste sent to landfill.
Similarly, the hotel has also partnered with Chefs to End Hunger, a local organization that provides meals to those in need by redistributing excess food from hotels and restaurants. Again, as well as having a worthy social motive, this initiative also serves to minimize waste – an issue that has been an ongoing thorn in the side of luxury hotels and restaurants.
Hotel Bel-Air’s anniversary programming is running throughout August 2021; see website for reservations and specific package availability.
