Steeped in authentic English charm, the Hyatt Regency London – The Churchill expertly combines first-class hospitality with all the modern touches you would expect in a five-star city center hotel. Located in Marylebone, just moments away from some of London’s most famed landmarks and attractions, the hotel is the perfect location from which to explore the English capital.
The hotel’s interior design makes no effort to play down the adoration for the former British Prime Minister, with Churchill themed artwork on display from the moment you enter, all the way through to the bedrooms. However, as the only hotel in London with a genuine relationship with the Churchill family, this celebration of his legacy is not without good reason.
Elite Traveler’s visit to Hyatt Regency London – The Churchill unfortunately fell during the Covid-19 pandemic, but thanks to the attentive staff and subtle safety measures in place, our stay was no less enjoyable for it. In the bar, the tables felt naturally spaced out to seamlessly comply with social distancing, while in the rooms, items such as the TV remote and bathroom glasses were clearly marked as sanitized for guests’ peace of mind.

In celebration of its 50 year anniversary, Hyatt Regency London – The Churchill has recently unveiled its newly renovated top suite, The Churchill Residential Suite. At almost 4,000 sq ft, the suite is the largest single suite unit in London with four en-suite bedrooms, a dining area, an expansive lounge complete with a grand piano, and a stately office fit for Churchill himself.
A distinctly British feel is felt throughout the rooms, with a selection of artwork by British artists adorning the walls – including an original by Churchill himself. Designed with a more residential feel in the mind, the suite caters to the most esteemed of guests including diplomats, heads of state and royalty, with a private elevator entrance guaranteeing complete discretion.
While the Churchill Residential Suite is the hotel’s most exclusive accommodation, the rest of the suites are impressively comfortable. Thoughtful details such as re-enforced soundproof windows that block out the sound of London traffic, and individual temperature controls in each room work together to ensure a restful night’s sleep.

Although The Montagu Kitchen is currently operating under limited hours due to Covid-19, the inviting The Churchill Bar and Terrace certainly makes up for it. On the menu, you’ll find a selection of crowd-pleasing favorites that celebrate British produce, such as Cornish whitebait, Scottish salmon and Cobble Lane charcuterie, as well a range of steaks and burgers. The Winston is a cheesy delight, with the burger itself cooked to your preference.
The signature cocktail menu, inspired by Churchill and his wife Clementine, initially feels intimidating, with ingredients like beetroot cordial and tomato shrub sounding somewhat suspicious. However, the bar’s skilled mixologists are on hand to guide you through the menu and offer expert recommendations. The Cigar Smoker, complete with a theatrical bubble of smoke, is a firm favorite.

Aside from drinks and food, in true Churchill style guests can select from a menu of specialty cigars, including his personal favorite – Romeo y Julietta.

Just moments down the road you will find Oxford Street, where you can indulge in retail therapy, or visit the nearby British Museum, with exhibitions spanning over two million years of human history.
London is also famous for its green spaces, with the expansive Hyde Park located a mere five minutes’ walk away, where you can enjoy a vast array of outdoor activities including boating, outdoor swimming and horse-riding.
The hotel has also recently launched the Discover Marylebone package in partnership with a number of local boutique independent businesses, in order to celebrate all the village-like area has to offer. Alongside accommodation in the hotel, the package invites guests to try unique local experiences such as a fragrance masterclass with the world’s oldest candlemaker, Cire Trudon, and a private visit of the family-run Thompson’s gallery, home to a selection of 20th and 21st-century original pieces.
