Panerai Launches Limited Edition Radiomir Officine Watch

The Radiomir Officine PAM01285 incorporates many of the iconic elements of the original prototype.

By Grace Taylor

Panerai has introduced a limited edition timepiece inspired by the original Radiomir military prototype of 1935. The Radiomir Officine PAM01285 marries the allure and aesthetics of the past with contemporary technical expertise, resulting in a watch that brings Panerai closer to its roots than ever before.

This exclusive release celebrates an archival receipt dated October 24, 1935, confirming the presentation of the first Radiomir prototype. The Radiomir Officine PAM01285 commemorates this milestone in Panerai’s history by incorporating many of the iconic aesthetic elements of the prototype.

Originally produced as a precision instrument for the Italian Royal Navy, the Radiomir Officine was used solely for military purposes until the early 1970s, and it wasn’t until 1992 that the watch was released commercially to the public.

The limited edition timepiece is encased in a polished steel 45mm case, which displays the iconic cone-shaped crown. A design nod to its origin, the hour hand is segmented in half, an emblematic feature that dates back to Radiomir’s inception.

The watch boasts a distinctive brown matte hollowed dial with indexes and numerals exclusively at twelve and six o’cock. In dimly lit environments, the beige Super-Luminova® hands and markers illuminate in an enchanting green hue.

The monotone brown leather strap elegantly complements the dial, introducing a matte color style for the first time within the collection. The strap is also interchangeable, allowing for a personalized touch from Panerai’s wide range of strap color options.

Notably, one of the restyled elements of the watch is the pared-down dial solely features the ‘Radiomir Panerai’ inscription, without the collection’s typical OP logo, lending a minimalist sophistication. Additionally, the case is constructed from monoblock steel, adding durability and enhancing the timepiece’s robustness.

At its core, the Radiomir Officine PAM01285 is powered by a hand-wound P.6000 caliber, which has a three-day power reserve. The timepiece is also water-resistant up to 10 bar, equating to a depth of approx 100 meters.

Available exclusively online, this timepiece is limited to just 300 pieces.
