The Best New Year’s Eve Parties in NYC

From balls at grand hotels to drinks at uber-cool cocktail bars, NYC goes all out for the biggest night of the year.

By Kim Ayling

Some people’s attentions might be on Christmas parties, but we’ve got our eyes on one date only: New Year’s Eve. And where better to celebrate the party night of the year than NYC?

In news that is new to no one, New York City really goes all out for New Year’s and 2024 is no exception – there’s the famous (un-ticketed-but-impossible-to-get-into) Times Square Ball Drop party, of course, but the city’s hotels, bars and clubs also put on a serious show.

Below, we round up the most luxurious NYE parties in NYC – from sultry masquerade balls to lavish dinners – to ring in 2024 in style.

Don’t fancy queuing for the Times Square Ball Drop? Try The Knickerbocker instead. As usual, the Times Square hotel is going all out for its New Year’s Eve party, with OTT packages including a banquet dinner, free-flowing bar, midnight champagne toast, a rooftop cocktail soiree and, most importantly, a brilliant view of the famous Ball Drop below.

Feeling really fancy? The hotel has a mega $500k package with a quite frankly ridiculous amount of inclusions: A helicopter ride over the city, a $10k shopping budget, week-long suite accommodation for ten, VIP Broadway tickets and private jet transportation are among the highlights.

The Mark Hotel

NYC’s best hotels exude a certain sense of elegant cosmopolitan glamour more often seen on the other side of the Atlantic – and The Mark is no exception. The hotel’s annual New Year’s Eve celebration is suitably glamorous too.

Once again, The Mark Restaurant by Jean-Georges is hosting an indulgent dining experience to usher in a new year. Kicking off with a glass of Ruinart champagne, guests will be treated to a six-course menu highlighting some of chef Jean-Georges Vongerichten’s most beloved dishes. Live entertainment and a DJ will follow, but if you really want to make a night of out, book a suite at The Mark – the Penthouse is one of the best in the city.

Soaring way above the streets, The Peninsula New York’s rooftop bar is surely one of the most exclusive spots to ring in the new year in the entire city. This year’s celebrations will see the Salon de Ning bar transformed into a winter wonderland, complete with live band, raw bar and dance floor.

The event will run late into the night, but for an extra $200, guests can also arrive two hours earlier to enjoy a lavish sit-down dinner at Clement restaurant.

Routinely named as one of the best bars in the city, Overstory, which sits right up on the 64th floor of 70 Pine Street will be up there as one of NYC’s most exclusive parties this New Year’s Eve.

Including in the lavish affair is an open bar, terrace access, a raw bar, canapes, a live DJ set and a midnight toast. Tickets are likely to be snapped up, so move quickly.

The Plaza New York

The iconic Plaza Hotel is known for going all-out with its holiday programming (a certain Kevin McCallister of Home Alone might have had a thing or two to do with that) and its New Year’s Eve parties are no exception. The hotel starts things early with a decadent Champgne Prelude at the Champagne Bar, where the bubbles will be free-flowing.

The main event will be held in the Palm Court and will include live entertainment, a lavish buffet, and a midnight toast. Dress to the nines and except glitz and glamour up to the rafters.

Looking to get out of Manhattan this NYE? Look no further than 1 Hotel Brooklyn Bridge. Perfectly positioned with views over the water to the city skyline, the hotel is cool as they come and is putting on a New Year’s Eve party to match.

This year’s celebration will come in the form of a mystical masquerade ball (the no mask, no entry policy is set to be strictly enforced), with music provided courtesy of Caché Life founder Eric Essebag and resident artist Yoni & Trotter. An all-night open bar promises to keep things lively.
