A VIP Guide to the Las Vegas F1 Grand Prix Weekend

For the first time, the Formula 1 Grand Prix will shut down one of the world's most iconic roads, The Strip.

By Ramona Saviss

Rev your engines — this fall, Formula 1 is hosting the Heineken Silver Las Vegas Grand Prix from November 16 to November 18. The three-day experience will take over the city with performances, panels and parties.

For the first time ever, the Grand Prix will be shutting down The Strip (only between 5pm and 2am Thursday through Saturday) — a far cry from the 1980s when the Caesars Palace Grand Prix was hosted in the hotel’s parking lot.

Following two nights of practice races and a qualifying round, the heart-pumping race will take place at night on Saturday, November 18 along the 3.8-mile track on one of the world’s most iconic roads that will be transformed into a top-tier circuit. Here’s your guide to all the high-speed happenings.

The Million-dollar Package

Wynn Las Vegas has an exclusive (and expensive) package costing $1m — it includes everything from a jeroboam of Dom Pérignon and a selection of caviar upon arrival to special access to opening ceremonies (on Wednesday, November 15) and the invite-only kickoff party at XS Nightclub.

The package itself is for six people and includes perks like golf, spa and salon reservations; tickets to Wynn’s new Awakening show; dinner for six at Delilah — plus lifetime membership to Private Access, the hotel’s VIP concierge service.

The accommodations include four nights in an Encore Three-bedroom Duplex — a two-story, 5,829-sq-ft space with dining and fitness rooms, a billiards table, and unparalleled views.

For the race, the package includes access to the Pit Lane Walk, where you can access the pit lane and see the cars and garages of each team; the Grid Walk, where you’ll get close to the 20 cars; and the private, members-only Wynn Grid Club — an exclusive area within the sold-out F1 Paddock Club, giving you the best views to watch the race while rubbing shoulders with F1 drivers and other VIPs.

Package guests are also given the opportunity to experience what it’s like to be driven full speed on the track as the passenger of a professional driver for a Hot Lap. In addition to VIP tours of the track and Paddock Club, the top-tier offerings also include ‘courtside’ seats, getting you as close as possible to the track during the race, and you’ll be escorted by expert hosts.

On the town

Sin City’s latest entertainment venue, Sphere, is the place to be for three nights of concerts during the Las Vegas Grand Prix. Located just off The Strip, the 366-ft tall by 516-ft wide venue is set to open this fall, just in time for the race. With 580,000 sq ft of LEDs on its exterior, the Sphere shines brightly even among the city’s neon lights, and has the racetrack nearly wrapped around it.

F1 weekend headliners at the T-Mobile Zone at Sphere start with Mark Ronson on Thursday night and continue with Major Lazer and A-Trak on Friday and the grand finale with J Balvin on Saturday.

Most tickets include Sphere access, as the venue boasts 17,500 seats and 23 private suites. Other performances throughout the weekend will include Cirque du Soleil, Blue Man Group, Tokimonsta and Siobhan Bell. Various zones throughout the circuit will also feature local talent — from magicians and dancers to acrobats and comedians — as well as fan meet-and-greets with F1 drivers.

Dining

For off-the-track dining and entertainment Las Vegas offers global fare — snag a seat at Wynn’s lively Delilah, where your American eats are accompanied by live musical performances. While at Wynn, make sure to check out Louis XIII’s first-ever US boutique. The pop-up experience, open through November, will feature a range of offerings, including Louis XIII’s latest launch Rare Cask 42.1, available by appointment only. The Rare Cask 42.1 will be available to try at Delilah, priced at $3,500 per single ounce pour, the first time in a decade that it has been offered by the glass. For those interested in sampling the exclusive liquid, contact the Louis XIII concierge.
