Since Belmond took over the reins in 2005, the Royal Scotsman has been revered for its lavish offering. Now, the grand train has added a new level of luxe with the launch of its exclusive onboard Dior Spa ahead of the commencement of its 2023 season.
The result of an exclusive collaboration between the two brands, the Dior Spa will take over an entire Royal Scotsman carriage, where two treatment rooms have been restyled to feature Dior’s iconic burgundy toile de Jouy motif.

With the new spa comes a new treatment menu, which includes three tailor-made services specifically designed to complement train travel. Among them is the D-Travel body massage – a deep, slow massage that targets eliminating toxins and relieving any muscle pain or tension. Alternatively, the D-Highlands treatment calls on traditional Kobido facial massage techniques to achieve a more sculpted look and improve overall skin texture.
Also new for 2023 are two expert-led culinary and adventure itineraries: the Highland Survival Adventure and A Taste of Scotland with Tom Kitchin. The Highland Survival Adventure trip, which will take place from June 30 to July 3, is a roundtrip from Edinburgh that challenges guests to complete a modern-day Royal Marines Commando Assault Training program across the Western Highlands.

The Taste of Scotland experience, on the other hand, promises to be a little less physically demanding. Instead, from September 4 to 6, guests will be treated to a series of world-class dining experiences by chef Kitchin, each of which showcases his signature ‘From Nature to Plate’ philosophy, rooted in celebrating the finest Scottish produce.
As well as a barbecue lunch in the Cairngorms National Park and a lavish closing Gala dinner, the itinerary will include an onboard wine tasting with local wine merchants and a whisky masterclass at Benromach distillery.
The launch of Royal Scotsman’s new Dior Spa and itineraries comes ahead of the introduction of the train’s latest accommodations, the Grand Suites. Set to join in 2024, the new suites will feature double bedrooms with ensuite bathrooms and a private living area, with guests privy to a host of extra services.
