Explora Journeys – the luxury arm of the MSC Group – has announced that its latest ship, Explora II, will be in attendance for the 2025 Formula 1 Monaco Grand Prix. Docked in pride of place in the iconic Port Hercule, Explora II will be in prime position throughout the duration of the race weekend, sitting less than 500 ft from the racetrack. Acting as a ‘luxury boutique hotel’ throughout the weekend, the ship will play home to several events and act as an entirely new accommodation option for those looking to attend the race.
Famously the most expensive week of the year in Monaco, with Formula 1 fans struggling to find accommodation in the principality, Explora II will provide attendees with the best of both worlds. High-level luxury aboard the ship, which features both expansive suites and residences, eleven different culinary experiences and unlimited premium beverages, all set just a stone’s throw from the heart of the action, the Formula 1 Paddock.
“We are delighted to showcase our second luxury ship Explora II for the very first time during the Formula 1 Grand Prix De Monaco 2025,” said Pierfrancesco Vago, executive chairman, cruise division of MSC Group. “Formula 1 is synonymous with cutting-edge technology, precision, and a relentless pursuit of excellence – values that we share with MSC Cruises and of course our luxury lifestyle brand Explora Journeys. This is one of the most prestigious events in the calendar, and it is only fitting that this would be where we offer sporting enthusiasts an unforgettable experience that brings together the world of motorsports with the luxury of maritime travel.”

The addition of Explora II to Port Hercule for the 2025 Monaco Grand Prix race weekend is all part of the extended partnership between MSC Cruises and Formula 1, which began in 2022. The partnership has allowed MCS Cruises to showcase its travel offering to Formula 1 fans at races across the world. In the lead-up to the 2025 Monaco Grand Prix, Explora Journeys will now also have a presence trackside at races.
“At Formula 1 we always strive to offer our fans new and incredible experiences that align with our values and elevate our sport,” said Stefano Domenicali, president and CEO of Formula 1 “The arrival of Explora II to the Monaco Grand Prix for the first time will offer fans a truly unique and luxury experience that will make this iconic event even more special.”
