Six Senses has announced the plans for a new property in Western Pennsylvania’s Allegheny River Valley. This latest unveiling continues Six Senses’ expansion into the American market, with new properties on the way in Napa Valley, Telluride and South Carolina. Located at the meeting point of the Allegheny and Clarion rivers, Six Senses RiverStone Estate marks the next stage for this region of impressive cultural and architectural value. Of course, Six Senses plans to bring its signature luxury and wellness-focused offering —which pays particular attention to sustainability — while working closely with the existing landscape and architecture.
Six Senses RiverStone Estate is situated just outside the Western Pennsylvania town of Foxburg, 90 minutes north of Pittsburgh. Its close proximity to three private airports ensures guests from further afield like New York and Chicago can head over for the weekend.
Acting as the center for this new property is an impressive three-story stone mansion that has already been restored by the estate’s previous owner. Six Senses will be adding 77 new guest rooms which will be tactfully placed across the 1,200-acre estate. In addition to the guest rooms, there will also be 40 branded residences that will aim to create the lifestyle of a private country home.

The guestrooms and cottages located across the property are set to be designed to mix an off-grid vibe with the luxury amenities one would expect from Six Senses. Branded residences will follow suit with warm, uncluttered and sustainable living. As a unique feature, Six Senses RiverStone Estate will also feature a dynamic art program, including a curated art gallery and a collection of studios that will be used for an artist-in-residence program.
As a Six Senses property, you would expect the plans for the spa at RiverStone Estate to be pretty special – and you would be correct. The new 16,000-sq-ft spa will use a high-tech, high-touch approach to wellness. Located inside the original family’s English garden, it’s a spot that has had a relaxation focus for centuries. There are also plans for a 4,500-sq-ft fitness center, kitted out with all the equipment needed for both novices and pro athletes, and a freshly constructed 82-ft pool.

Throughout Six Senses RiverStone Estate, the cuisine offered will be focused on local and organic produce. There will be an onsite farm-to-table specialty restaurant, in addition to a central courtyard that will feature smaller tasting bars and a pop-up experience.
Playing on the estate’s history, Six Senses RiverStone Estate will feature an equestrian center with a 22,000-sq-ft indoor riding arena. Here there will be a mix of programs including equine therapy, and Residential owners can stable horses year-round.
